Bathmate hydromax?

Postby davidecupps » Fri Dec 26, 2014 9:44 pm

I had a laproscopic prostatectomy on Dec 1. I'm beginning to start my penis rehab right away.

I've been on 5 mg Cialis for at least 1 month prior to surgery and every day since surgery.

My urologist is recommending I begin using a penis pump.

In looking at penis pumps, I noticed at least 2 brands used in penis enhancement protocols used water to apply the vacuum to the penis instead of air.

One of these is the Bathmate hydromax line of penis pumps.

It is meant to be used in the bath or shower.

Anyone here have any experience with a water based penis pump?

If so, what is your impression.

I use a sex shop pump but not a Bathmate. You are on the right track. I think you would have to spend a long time in the shower. I pump for 50 minutes a day.

Bathmate should work well; however, it limits use to the bathroom and is relatively expensive. An air pump can be used almost anywhere privacy allows and can accommodate a vacuum gauge for better and safer control of vacuum levels. As an alternative, a VED has the advantage of allowing a constriction band to be slipped onto a vacuum induced erection. You can get a non- medically approved model for under $80; however, the more expensive medically approved models may be covered by insurance.

yes. I agree. I was stupid over pumped with this. Ruined my life. You think you
won't "over pump" but you eventually will. And if you're lucky you'll heal,
if you're not you'll end up with permanent damage

There is a learning curve associated with both the Bathmate and Penomet pumps and they can be extremely frustrating to use at first.
If you do go with a cheaper sex shop air vacuum pump get one with a gauge.
For less than the price of a water based pump you can get a decent medical pump.
Married 50+ years. Use VED for sex and do
daily exercises with both water and vacuum pumps.

I've been using a cheap porn shop pump like this in the shower for years. I don't think you can over pump with this bulb type of pump. No metal parts to rust. You can even fill it with water and pump if you like. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DF ... 1243839011

This is the exact same one I use. I pumped 5 times and left it for an hour. When I let it go I had 2 big cherry blisters and a couple that had burst. I don't blame this pump... I blame all pumps. BTW, I paid $60 plus tax for this.

I'm not a medical professional of any kind. Anything I post is based only on my own experience and should never be mistaken as medical advice. Always consult your doctor and follow his/her advice.

I've been using both medical and novelty grade pumps for years. I think they are invaluable for therapy. Yes, it's possible to over pump. Keep an eye on what you're doing. Don't pump to the point of causing pain. Don't leave pumped up for more than just a very few minutes. Do repeated pumps and releases over a half hour or so if you have the patience to do it that long. Never leave the pump on and pumped up for an hour. That is at the least guaranteed to cause edema. Use repeated relatively brief pumps and releases.

An example of a therapy routine from OSU as a PDF: https://patienteducation.osumc.edu/Documents/after-roboticprost-manualvacuum.pdf

An excerpt:
Steps for One Session of Manual VED Therapy
One session equals bringing the penis to an erection 5 times. You may
do more than 1 session a day, but no more than 2.
1. Pump slowly 3 times and pause, counting to 5 or 10. Then pump
slowly 3 more times, and pause again, counting to 5 or 10.
2. Repeat step one until the penis is full. Tightness and some pressure
are normal, but never pump to the point that you cause pain.
3. When you have reached a penile erection, count for at least 2
minutes. You can go longer if you can tolerate it, and then release the
pressure button.
4. After the penis has decreased in fullness, pump again and repeat the
process.
5. Repeat the above process 4 times, for a total of 5 erections.
6. This should take 10 to 15 minutes per session.
