I think it all comes down to the choice of surgeon. I am about 1/8" longer (6.5" now) than I was before the procedure. I attribute this solely to the outstanding skill of my doctor. I have a Titan BTW so I can't comment on the LGX specifically, but it seems to me there are many who have it that complain about shortening. My theory is they put it in somewhat shorter to compensate for the expansion later? Reality is you have what you have for length and an expanding implant will most likely not grow it larger over time than you were originally-even though that is what we all hope for-LOL (Just one man's opinion!). Shorter and hard is better than long and limp for sure...

Re: How long to regain length?
I lost a couple of inche's myself and I too don't like it one bit.Hopefully I will gain some of it back as time goes on.The tips feel like they r in the glans far enough as I don't have a floppy head but it is shorter, also flater than before
Re: How long to regain length?
People who were short before don't seem to mind the poor results; those of us who were average or larger, and then get a "short" result are the ones who are upset......
Re: How long to regain length?
Steve I had six inches before sergury and 5 after it was implanted...when I had six it did not work now I have 5 and it is like a piece of steel superman would be proud of...and yes mine has grown a little I am about 5 1/4 now it takes time I also had the pain you talk about but I pumped it twice a day as much as I could stand and then I would stroke it slowly as far as the skin would allow and also would push penis up towards my belly while pumped up that hurt but when I let it go the pain was much easier I would do this through out the time I was pumped up..I had implant in oct 2011 and I can pump it to full length with out the slightest pain but I do it twice a day to keep it lubed inside...be patient...it will be there for you...give it time.. some men will take longer to heal I was lucky but I was agressive in working it myself and it paid off I was having banging sex in 6 weeks after implant...good luck
steveb wrote:Hey my name is Steve and I was implanted with the AMS LGX 700 over 3 months ago and I lost 2 inches! I was and still am pissed off about this! I was told that I could lose and inch and would eventually regain what I lost. I was 5 1/2 inches before my surgery and I am now 3 1/2 inches and over the 3 months since my surgery I have not gained NOTHING!!! I look like a small child and my wife is struggling with having to have sex with me. I am going back to see my doctor on Feb. 10th. The instructions I was given after surgery was to pump it up to a 7 on the 0 to 10 pain score and if the pain went down pump back up to a 7 and keep it there for an hour. After about 20 minutes I was always hurting so bad that I had to release all the pressure from the implant, When I called back to discuss this problem, I was told to pump it up until I first felt a hint of pain and to keep it pumped up for an hour. By the time an hour goes by, The pain is so extreme that I am glad the hour is over because I don't feel I could take anymore. I don't want to spend the rest of my life with a 3 1/2 inch dick, but I don't know what he is gonna tell me to do about it until my appointment on Feb. 10th. I am crushed that this has happened to me. Is there a way of extending it after the implant, even if it takes another surgery?

Sorry to hear about your situation. Mind if I asked where you had your implant done at and by which doctor? Recommend that if things don't improve and your doctor is unwillingly to correct it, you consult a malpractice attorney. A loss of two inches is way to much.

Re: How long to regain length?
Dr. Milam at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. did my procedure. It has been 4 months and I have not gained any lost length. I am keeping it pumped up an hour a day with all the pain I can stand, which is what he recommended. He also said that no on ever complained about girth after their procedure. I have also lost girth. I am so devastated! My first post-op visit with him is next Friday, Feb. 10th. We have a lot to talk about.

Re: How long to regain length?
The gentleman understandably complains about a 2" reduction in the length of his penis post-operatively. I think all of us are deeply sympathetic to the complaint.
But some posters have suggested malpractice and the potential for a lawsuit.
You probably don't want to bring a lawsuit over the post-operative size of your penis.
First, you signed a medical and surgical consent for the procedure and no promise was made concerning the length of your penis post-operatively. In fact, the consent indicated that loss of length is a risk of the procedure.
Second, a lawsuit is exposed to the public domain, meaning your pleadings, cause of action, arguments, and evidence (including photos of your evidence) are out there for all to see. This is especially true at a time when most courts' case files are scanned and all the documents and evidence are readily accessible online to the public. And who wants this kind of very private information out in the public domain?
Third, the physician's insurer is not likely to settle with you before you file a lawsuit unless there is very obvious medical malpractice. And the loss of penile length for a procedure of this kind does not rise to the level of malpractice because it is a known risk of the procedure and all patients sign a medical and surgical consent disclosing as much before the procedure.
Fourth, assuming you do bring a lawsuit against the physician, it could take years to work its way through court before achieving a pre-trial or at-trial settlement or post-verdict settlement, or potential dismissal of the case for a variety of reasons. A lawsuit is a very serious matter, one that should not be entered lightly, and it can be all-consuming emotionally for those involved.
Fifth, you likely won't find a lawyer who will take a case like this on a contingency fee basis; the plaintiff will likely have to retain a lawyer with an initial fee of $10K and expect to pay at least $25K up to the point of trial (and double that for a trial). And even then, you have no guarantee of prevailing in the case. So there is the very real risk of your personal economic loss, in addition to the other losses (physical and emotional) you may already have experienced.
The potential award of settlement for damages arising from the loss of X" of penile length (assuming a settlement is achieved at any time in the process) likely will be nominal, especially in relation to the costs of litigation and attorney's fees. For instance, worker's compensation insurance pays about $14K for the accidental loss of one's pinky finger. So how much money is the loss of X" of your penile length worth?
I think the best approach to the whole issue of penile implant surgery is to go into it with realistic expectations, understanding not only the potential outcome and benefits, but more particularly the potential risks, including the loss of X" of penile length post-operatively.
And finally, one cannot underestimate the necessity of finding an exceptionally well qualified surgeon to perform this surgery. If the surgeon performs, for instance, less than 75 of these procedures per year, you may want to look for someone more experienced -- a surgeon who specializes in penile implants as his or her primary practice area. If that means you have to travel several thousand miles for the surgery, it's well worth the effort and expense, especially considering that for a man his penis is probably his most important body part.

Haha, sounds like something an industry insider (or implant surgeon) would say.....
Anyone actually considering such a lawsuit should contact the American Trial Lawyers Association (or their home state bar association) and ask for a list of trial lawyers specializing in medical malpractice/products liability cases. And remember that no trial lawyer will charge you a cent to talk to you regarding the possible merits of a case....

dmikesaw, I'm neither an industry insider, industry outsider, or surgeon. I am only a candidate for the IPP procedure.

Re: How long to regain length?
I started gaining length with my LGX 700 about 1-2 months post-op. I DO keep it inflated at least twice a day and often overnight while I sleep. And I do all the work necessary to keep it healthy and growing. I have gained well over an inch since my first inflation. I "work it" constantly to keep the chambers well embedded into the GLANS and to keep any scar tissue from interfering with it's use. Regular workouts are essential to maintaining a healthy penis implant.
Best of luck and I hope that everything works out for the best with you.
