Second time trying Trimix
Second time trying Trimix
I have been suffering from ED for many years. I have high blood pressure that is controlled with Lisinopril and take no other meds but for some reason I have struggled with ED for what seems like forever. I know when I was younger most of it was do mostly to anxiety over failure. I was married for 18 years and my wife passed away about 3 years ago. For the most part it was working okay with us early in the marriage and later I started using Viagra which worked pretty good for the most part. There was a 2 year period during her illness that precluded anything because we were dealing with her cancer. About 2 years after my wife's passing I started to date again. I found at this point my capability for any erection was futile......best I could get was 30% by myself so this made trying to attempt anything with someone new totally frightening. Anyway I met someone that is totally understanding and we have made the best of it. I tried Viagra which only helped minimally and then tried Trimix but but the urologist I had was of little help with that and it made my girlfriend nervous so I stopped. I then went to a vacuum system that at least works and gives me more of an erection than I ever had but I cannot not seem to orgasm during intercourse with it. I got a new urologist that is much younger and in tune with my problem. He has prescribed trimix and I have started trying to get the dosage correct. The mix I have is Phen 1 mg PGE 20 mcg PAP 30mg. He started me at 0.1ml which had very little effect. I have been boosting it by 0.1 ml each try and am up to .6ml and this is still not giving me what I would consider a full erection.....maybe 60-70%......possibly usable but with my history for failure I wouldn't want to risk it. I seem to lose all results after about 2 hours and it is strongist during the first hour and nothing potentially usable after that. I am wondering is the mix I have strong enough? Are there stronger mixes? I can only go the 1ml with the syringes I am using. Should I be getting a full erection from trimix or will it only give you a partial? I am going to continue to up the dosage to see what happens I haven't gotten close to priaprism because I am not getting a full erection.

Draw,
Just for clarification:
Conversion formula: 1 (insulin) unit = 0.01 ml = 0.01 cc; therefore 100 units = 1 cc = 1 ml
If you're using 0.6 ml, that's 60 units. That's a pretty big dosage--not out of line, but certainly not small. I'm thinking maybe you're injecting 6 units or 0.06 ml. That's actually a pretty small dose.
Doc started me at 30 units (0.3 ml) which was way more than I needed. After 16 months of use, I'm now down to 2 units a pop (0.02 ml) and that does me just fine. I have found that the more often I do the injection, the less it takes. That's a nice bonus.
Of course, you may be right on with your measurements. It's just that injection newbies often get the decimal point in the wrong place. Don't give up on trimix. It has been a lifesaver for me. Finally, don't ever hesitate to call your doctor and/or the pharmacist. If either professional is not helpful and supportive, you should consider finding a replacement.

I will check the dosage but I am pretty sure it said on the prescription to increase by 0.1ml at any rate I am at 6 of whatever the units are and I am still not getting a full erection which makes me wonder if it is strong enough......I have never been tested for venous leakage but it seems like I am having to go to pretty extreme measures for someone who is pretty healthy. I have what would be called marginal hypertension and take lisenopril and it keeps my blood pressure in the 130/120 over 80/90 range.

Cool.
Sometimes you gotta work around to find the magic number. Doc started me at "average" and told me to work up or down as needed. It my case, I needed to work down. Everybody's different. Best wishes for hard time.

Re: Second time trying Trimix
It has been a while since I posted on this (been pretty busy). I am definitely using the correct increments, I have been going up .1 ml at a time. I tried .7 ml yesterday and it does give me about a 70-80% erection that lasts maybe 30 - 40 minutes. I am not getting a full erection. I think I would be disappointed with the results if I tried it with my fiance at this point so I think I need to try to get the dosage correct. I realize with stimulation the results would probably be better but I am going on the fact that I lose it relatively quickly that I can use more. The problem I have is I am about out of the first bottle of trimix and I would like to speed the process up. I was told to go up .1 ml at a time so I wonder if I should try to go up .2 ml at a time? I also am thinking I need a stronger mix because once I get to 1 ml that is as much as the syringe will hold.

Drawdep,
I am Bill, 73, In Michigan. I have been injecting trimix almost a year and a half. I use the same formula that you stated, but much much much less for a great, long lasting erection.
My suggestion is a return trip to your urologist. You are on a very large dosage from what i see others here using. Your uro may want to change your Rx somewhat, or may want to do a doppler test to check for venous leakage.

Drawdep,
It does sound like you are making progress, but also that perhaps you do need a stronger prescription (you have no achiness from your .7ml levels right?).
One thing I have noticed with injections is the crazy way that changing positions can cause the erection to go softer or harder. For instance, lying on side makes for the hardest long lasting ones. Kneeling or on top are fine for a while but tend to soften. Walking or standing (which maybe you might do when you are waiting for something to happen) makes things softer for most. Just this AM I had a rockin hard one after finishing and was wondering if I was going to have to drag that bad boy all the way in to work. But after getting out of bed and in the shower -- 10 mins of standing -- it was softening to manageable levels.
It's different for everyone, but try lying down on your side one time -- and if that works you can always try doing spoons position with you behind her -- both on your side.
It's all good!

Re: Second time trying Trimix
When I tried this the first time my urologist was not the greatest and seemed to have little time for me. I got a new and younger urologist and he takes time to talk things over and to try different things. He is the one who encouraged me to try trimix again. I am getting a bit of ache from trimix but compared to the constriction rings it doesn't seem to be a concern. I think the PGE is where they can up the potency a bit but I want to see what happens after I get to the the 1 ml point. It would get significantly more costly per shot at the 1 ml level. My thought is with a stronger mix I could inject much less. Also I am beginning to think it is time to approach my urologist on getting more tests run as I haven't had any surgery or injuries that would cause this level of ED. I only have mild hypertension and I take Lisinopril to control it which is not supposed to aggravate the ED that much. My urologist said the reason they haven't done as many of the more conclusive testing is that the "treatment" they use wouldn't differ even if they knew the cause. I think for my peace of mind I would like to know exactly what I am battling.

Quoth my GP: "Your ED is definitely related to your diabetes, but sometimes guys just win the limp dick lottery."
Just sayin'.
Mechanically, ED is all about proper blood flow or the lack thereof. The better question might be what's causing the blood flow problem? Think of ED as a symptom. And sometimes, it just is what it is.

Re: Second time trying Trimix
I checked my prescription and noted that my PGE is 18 mg/ml. You indicated that your PGE is 20 mcg/ml. Accordingly, your mix is .02 mg/ml which is significantly lower than mine. I recommend you check your prescription again and if it is 20 mcg and not mg, you should talk to your Uro to up the PGE. I think that may be your problem.
