I've been married to my wife since 1977. I'm 61 now and having issues with ED. My erections are not very good at all. It's odd but I can even orgasm when limp. I no longer have nocturnal erections. No morning wood any more. I want the erections of my youth again. Looking for answers here. I see all those supplements out there and they are so expensive and I'm afraid I might be wasting my money. It seems to me that there might be something out there that works. I wonder if I could change my diet to get it back. I don't know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Desperate for answers.

First, welcome to FT. My advice is to go to a urologist who specializes in male sexual dysfunction to find out what your specific issue is. We can tell you what our issues are, and what solutions we found, but it may have nothing to do with you. Anything you learn here will be a guess or an assumption. If you go to the doctor and start the process of finding out what is causing your loss of erections, it will be one step closer to getting it resolved. Best wishes.

Supplements and random pills you find all over the internet are not likely to have any effect other than depleting your wallet. A good bet is to find a urologist who specializes in men's sexual health and get a thorough evaluation. There are drugs that might help, as well as injections, VED (vacuum erection device), and the penile implant. But hooking up with a good urologist is the place to start. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the advice. Picking a urologist difficult. One here recently held a seminar regarding implants. He seemed to really be pushing implants. I'm thinking we should start with something less invasive first and that shouldn't be the first thing to consider. How to negotiate the options seems will be difficult and take a bit of time. Perhaps I just have to make several appointments and evaluate them each individually. It is quite depressing to be honest.

Welcome to the site. You are at the right place and have received good advice. I would like to add that health care varies from state as does insurance. I would not worry about being pushed into an implant. My understanding is insurance will not pay until other treatments or tests have been done. As the others have said look for a good urologist. You can look at the physician finder at the top of this page and check out Health Grades. But the main thing is to find a very good urologist that you trust and work together to make a plan. As far as expense goes there is generic Viagra now that is affordable and mail order pharmacies for injections in many states. You will have to check on this for your location. A good urologist would be able to help with that. There are some men's clinic's I have read very bad reviews on. So as was said be sure to find a good urologist.

If you have insurance rest assured you will be pretty much required to try the other options before they would ever approve an implant. Prior to getting my implant I attended a couple seminars at my Urologist’s office. One was quite generic about ED and one was about implants. Obviously, in that seminar it seemed more like that was being pushed. Perhaps it was sponsored by ANS or Titan, one of the manufacturers. Not sure if that was what you attended, but could explain why it seemed to be pushed.

In my case, I would say I now wish I had gotten my implant way sooner. I began experiencing ED in my late 30s. Pills were not yet readily available. After struggling along, when pills became available I tried all three. I stuck with Cialis for quite a few years. Eventually had to try a pump, in the progression that my urologist (and insurance company I suppose) favored. It did next to nothing for me, so, on to the shots. The shots were great for several years, but what I didn't know was that they were damaging my penis. It may have been exacerbated by the fact that I am a long time user of Warfarin, post DVT-Embolism in 2001. My penis became misshapen, I could feel heavy scar tissue inside, etc. After retiring I began doctoring with the VA. As a vet with service caused disability I was all along eligible for free care, but paid all that time through work for insurance. Not sure what I was thinking. Partly it was because there was only a clinic in my town and the VA hospital was 60 miles away. Anyway, my very first visit with the VA urology clinic, they told me that they would be happy to do an implant and it would help fix most of the scarring too. I elected to stick with the shots trying to get by as it seemed scary to get the surgery. After four years of this, I finally got over my fear and got it done last July. I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT YEARS AGO is the best way I can put it. The surgeon explained to me, afterwards, that all those years of the shots did in fact take away natural length, and led to scarring, and he agreed that I should have done it way earlier. The only positive from waiting, was that I got the new model with the stretchy material, and man I can make it like teenage years now, except of course not as long as I was. So get in there to a urologist and get cracking!

I had my implant done 6 weeks ago.

I regret not having it done sooner !

I spent far too much time deciding whether to have it or not.

So if anyone is thinking of it, dont procrastinate !
