Hello from newbie at FrankTalk
Hi all, Healing well prostate cancer forum led me here. Surgery for prostatectomy in December of 2011. I'm interested in learning treatments for ED and general knowledge. Since surgery I haven't tried much. One or twice. Too painful before. Now pain is subsiding and I know I better try, try again. I'm 57 and lost my wife to breast cancer three years ago. I've met a wonderful lady since then and ironically I proposed to her two weeks before a biopsy told me about my cancer. She is very understanding of it all and wants me to explore all options. Thanks in advance for both accepting me to the forum and for advice to come.

Hope to see you online soon.

Pax:
Welcome. I'm also PCa with robotic surgery. As Keith said this is a good place and there is a lot of experience here. As you seem to be feeling well and I assume the sex drive has returned; it is time to begin a penile rehab program. Getting some blood flowing back into your shaft is a good thing and protects your flexibility and length. As the urge is there take advantage of it even though you may not get hard- the act and use is a good reminder to the boys down there that it is time to begin a process to return to action. A climax works wonders for you both between the legs and between the ears. Many of us find the post-surgery climax is even strong than before surgery and can last longer. Mine does and they are amazing. But, please remember- the return to hard takes time.
Under the Pump Treatment section is a device called the "Prelude" it is a soft vac and while not good for sex it does begin the process. It is easy and fun to use and is not expensive. I used one in the beginning of my rehab and highly recommend it. If you get one they come in 2 sizes depending on your girth not length. The company is easy to work with and very understanding of our journey.
If you doc has not discussed a penile rehab plan with you please consider bring the subject up at your next appointment. There is a new rehab protocol recently released by the Baylor Medical Center. It is very inclusive and comprehensive. If you and your doc are not aware of it I would be happy to email you a copy for your work. Oh, I not a doc or medical- just another guy on the same journey. I have learned a lot here- this place is a good place!!
Again welcome and as Keith suggests, join the chat room as you can. There are a wonderful supportive, encouraging and funny (bawdy at times) group of men in this clan. Enjoy.
Regards,
Dick

Re: Hello from newbie at FrankTalk
Hi Pax-
i had PC surgery 2 yr ago (Feb 17, 2010). As Dick said i urge you to start a penile rehab program. They all vary. My Doctor started me on Cialis 20 mg every 0ther day to help increase the blood supply. He gave me an erecaid with the instructions to use it twice daily for 15 to 20 min each session. I did not realize the importance of the pump until i read an article talking about nocturnal erections that keep the penis from atrophy.
I am not a doctor either but I strongly suggest you get a good vacuum device and use it regularly. Talk to your doctor and ask him about penile rehab theraphy.
you will find this site very helpful and most any of the guys will be glad for you to contact us with a private message to help you with any problems you have. In the chat room feel free to ask any personal questions you have. You will get straight answers.
God bles you during this journey,
Darrell

Welcome to Frank Talk Pax.
I am also a Prostate Cancer Survivor --- Open Radical Prostatectomy in February 2004 (today is my eight year anniversary).
There is a wealth of information in this Group about all the treatment options available for your ED and many men who are willing to share their experiences with you. Do not hesitate to ask questions. You are among friends here.
Like Keith, I was implanted with an IPP (Inflatable Penile Prosthesis) in December 2007 after not responding satisfactorily to the "standard" ED Treatments (Pills, VED, MUSE, Injections).
4+ years later, my wife and I are still enjoying my implant.
Also, many men in the FT Group have had success with the other modalities. I urge you to read their posts and talk with them in the Chat Room or via PM.
Best of luck,
Bob
