The Ambicor two piece implant

Postby Daveman » Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:16 pm

I am now 68. I had prostate surgery 5+ years ago- May 2006. ( Gleason 3+3).It was done using the Davinci robot system in Boston. Cancer is GONE! I've had no urinary leakage problems . Erectile function, problematic before the surgery but treatable with Viagra, completely disappeared. Use of injections, first Cavaeject then two levels of Trimix proved helpful but were not really successful for me. Injections removed the spontaneous aspect of sex. While not painful, they were psychologically difficult for fear of something going wrong. Penis was a bit panful and did not feel natural. It often was not hard enough for great sex.
After consultation with both my GP and urologist,I somewhat reluctantly had an implant in December 2011. I was convinced by positive experiences noted on sites like these. My worries were unfounded. Surgery is not fun, but after one hospital night and a week of mild inconvenience, pain treated by meds for few days, I am now once again a functioning man. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS FOUR YEARS AGO!

I have the Ambicor 2 piece since my MD did not feel I could have the 3 piece after prostate surgery cut my abdomen, even though the cuts were minor in the robot process.

I've been a biT surprised how hard the pump is and I don't feel a drastic change when pumped up. The penis is quite rigid when un-pumped and while it does get more rigid and changes its incline from about 7 o'clock to about 8:15 when squeezed a few times, the hardness of the bulb does not seem to create a squeeze release. But it does work and my wife and I are again having a much more spontaneous love life. :D

Welcome Daveman: I must say I have never heard of that specific implant. Interesting its 2 piece unit. Will need to do some research on that one. Glad that you are so satisfied with the unit. Join us in the chat room.

Welcome Daveman. I've been hearing very good things about the Ambicor two-piece implant. Much less of a hassle to install and lots less surgical pain because of the lack of the big reservoir to cut into the abdomen.

Best of luck and thanks for being here with us on FrankTalk. I'm sure the we'll all be anxious to hear of your progress along the way.

Welcome Dave from another Dave!

One of my motivating reasons for proceeding with an implant is exactly what you experienced, lack of the ability to have spontaneous sex. My wife of 39 years and I have always had an active love life, if we feel the urge, we like to react. Pills, pumps, and shots don't allow that. As I told my urologist when he wanted my reasons for wanting an implant, using the injections was almost like making an appointment at the local brothel. I wanted to have my dick react on the spur of the moment.

I'm happy you proceeded and are enjoying your intimacy again.

Welcome Dave,

Best of luck with your new implant.
I developed ED in February 2004 Post-ORP and was implanted with an IPP (Inflatable Penile Prosthesis) in December 2007.
This completely corrected my ED and restored my sex life and emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
Wishing you and your wife many years of enjoyment with your new Implant.
