As my subject line said, I had my AMS 700 implanted 6 months ago. A bit of background. I had postate cancer 12 years ago. I had a radical postectomy and lost much of my ability to get an erection. I still had some ability and Viagra helped. Almost 5 years later my cancer reoccured and I had radiation. At that point I had no erection at all. Over the next few years I tried every pill and device know to man. I had viagra, cialas, muse inserted into my penis, pumps and finally trimix injections. I had very limited sucess with everything. Fear kept me from an implant, but after sticking the needle to inject trimix for 6 months I finally gave in.
Boy, am I glad I did. I can not get it up whenever I want, and keep it up as long as I want. It is not as long as it was years ago, but believe me, the surgery was well worth it.
If I can answer any questions or help anyone with this difficult decision just email me and I'll answer all i can.

I had my implant about 22 and an half months ago. If you think things are great now you have a pleasent suprise coming, It gets better and better.
The LGX will continue to expand up to 18 months so you will probably gain more length.
Welcome.

I'm very interested that you were able to get an implant after radiation. A paper I read recently by Johns Hopkins says men who have had radiation are not a candidate for implants. Its probably a function of how long the radiation treatment lasted (how much damage was done). How much radiation did you get? How long afterwards before you got the implant?

Mine was after 33 radiation sessions causing a lot of tissue damage and as a result the wound is only now closing after 7 weeks.

I am happy to hear of your success with the implant. My surgery is to be scheduled week of Sept 13. When discussing the size of the implant with my MD, he said that he would measure my penis at time of surgery. The AMS rep is to "bring some implants by". Sounds a little like the good humor man coming down the street ringing his bell and we choose the treat we want. Still, how did you and your surgeon decide on size of implant? I naturally want the longest that will fit my penis. Was there a contract or formal agreement on the type to be implanted? Your response will be greatly appreciated.

The size implant used is determined during surgery when the doctor measures your corpora. The implant (IPP) comes in four basic sizes 12cm, 15,cm, 18cm and 21cm.
For example your corpora measuress 17cm. The doctor would use a 15cm IPP and then add 2cm rear tip extenders to custom fit it to your corpora's.
Have a discussion with the doctor before surgery. If you have lost any penile size the only IPP that expands in length and girth is the AMS 700 LGX. Several of us on this forum have the LGX and are very happy with the results.
Good Luck and keep us informed about your progress.
