Low testosterone
Any of you guys out there suffer ed from low T like me I would like to here from you, and here a little about your treatment. I am on 15 grams of androgel a day. Before treatment I had no sex drive and lost all erections after treatment I get some sleep erections and some times almost good enough for sex but quickly go away. Oral meds worked great for a short time, but they stopped working after a while. My doctor told me was quite common I am now on bi mix injections with mixed results. Would like to here from some of you thanks.
50 YRS old Have had ED since 2005 started TRT in 2006 have used androgel, fortesta gels, aveed injections, and testapel implants testapel works the best so far. oral meds never really worked for ED used trimix with mixed results.

Re: Low testosterone
HI, I am on treatment for low T. I just refilled my script for another 6 mos and I am begining to see some changes finally. I also use Cialis when needed but my Ed comes from extensive health problems and are the by products of the side effects of al the medicines I take but I would be more than happy to answer anything i could about my own situation if it would help you! I have never tried injectins although from what I have read and seen on here. they appear to be great at providing nice rockets to use!! LOL
Please PM or let me know how I could help

Hey regguy,
I have been on TRT for about a year now, started on 5g, with no response, went to 7.5, very little response, then to 10, with a response that I thought was ok and starting to feel a difference, and noticing a little more of a drive, but the ENDO and URO that were watching my T levels said it was too high, which was around 700. Then they moved me back to 7.5. I will tell you this, midway through my 7.5 and up until 10g until now, i noticed a major change in my testes. I am talking major atrophy. I went from rather nice sized balls down to something smaller than marbles. Being that I have already had my vasectomy, I was not worried about the size and production, but I also lost volume of ejaculate, right now I am currently at .5cc, which i think is rather low volume, but I never had much volume to begin with maybe 1-1.5cc's. I have an appt coming up with my URO, which is going to be taking over my current androgel script so i dont have to go to the ENDO enymore, and these are some questions I will be asking him. My wife and i both want my balls and volume back.
If you need more info, I am more than happy to help out. So many issues, its very hard to see how everything fits together, but im hoping my new URO will be receptive enough to my ambitions.
Thanks,
Dave, 32, from MA

Re: Low testosterone
Dave - I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the balls shrink when they think they don't need to produce any T. Like you, I had some nice sized ones, but they have shrunk a lot. I've got pics on my post in the implant section if you want to check it out. The sack still looks pretty good, but the marbles have shrunk! My volume is also down, but not sure if that is from the androgel or just the fact I'm now 60! I'm not sure either of us really miss the mess.

Re: Low testosterone
I have low testerone (my Urologist calls it hypogonadism), and have been taking injections of testerone cypionate for several years. They have helped me some. My wife gives them to me. For a couple of years I took 1 CC every two weeks (I tried the gel, but it blistered me, so had to get something else and went with the injections). Last year I took 1 CC a week (was getting the Cypionate in a 5 CC bottle), but the doctor said that 1 CC per week was too much, so he switched me to a 1 CC bottle, and I get two of those a month. I don't feel tired like I used to , but my sex drive is not very good. The injection is good for about 5 days and then it's effect goes to nothing by the end of a week, so the second week I don't have any drive. My testicles have never been tremendous in size, but now they are down to tiny marbles, and I think that is affecting my drive. Naturally, I don't have much to ejaculate. Since I switched to the 1 CC injection per two weeks, the testicles have really shrunk, which is something I don't understand. Have been thinking I need to go to an endocrinologist, and get tested to see if I have some other things out of whack.
Have been trying Trimix, but the first vial the doctor sold me was extremely low in concentration. I got up to .75 CC per injection, and got only an erection for about 3 to 5 minutes, and then it went away. Have switched just today to a concentration that is double strength of what I was taking, so will try .2 CC tonight or tomorrow, and then increase each time by .1 CC. The first vial I got from doctor, and it cost $ 125.00 (and it was very low concentration). I found out on this forum or another forum about a pharmacy in Pensacola, and I got the next vial (today) with double concentration for $ 38.00 plus $ 27.95 overnight shipping. This was a little over half price from what I got from the doctor, and I didn't have to drive the 100 miles to the doctor's office to get it. I was concerned about it staying cold for the 24 hours of shipping via UPS, but it did.
Guess I got off the subject of low testerone somewhat, but would appreciate comments from others, particularly about their testicle atrophy, and if any have gone to an endocrinologist to be tested for other deficiencies. My mother had hypothroidism, and I have been checked with one test for that, but have been told that for the throid tests to be exact, you need several more specialized ones. I still have my prostate, but it is enlarged.

Re: Low testosterone
As far as testosterone goes I started around 250, with no drive and no energy. My pcp sent me to an Endo thinking it was related to my metabolic syndrome that everyone says that I have. After doing some research for myself, it was a no brained that I had low testosterone. I made my Endo check it, and surprise, it was low. She started me on 5g pump androgen with little response for 5 months, rechecked and up'd it to7.5g. Waited few months and rechecked. It was about 300. She then up'd it again to 10, which got me to about 700. At that point I started to notice my balls where shrinking that is normal on the testosterone therapy, my uro said that it was too high and it needed to come down a bit. I have since switched back to 7.5g and the I will be having my uro take over the script management, but my uro left and now im stuck with a new uro which I see in april and I have to go over everything with him. He better plan on a long appt, cuz I have a lot to talk about. I have major testicular atrophy I have lost half of my volume of ejaculate which is now about. 5cc. I would like to regain my ball size and volume but I can't give up the testosterone, it was a life saver. I still have decreased desire, but energy level is up. Currently I have too many things changing at once and im starting to get annoyed that the docs just keep shuffling me around, and my pcp wants nothing to do with any of this

Re: Low testosterone
I have been on TRT since last June because my T level was at 290 which is at the bottom of the normal Range. My endocrinologist recommended against it so I went to a urologist hoping higher T would improve my ED. The Uro prescribed T gel which increased my T to 750, helped a bit with my libido, but did nothing for my ED. On a positive note, he started me on Trimix injections which more than did the trick.
I recently noticed my right testical seemed to feel a little smaller than previously. When I went to the endo last week, he suggested I wean myself off of the T-gel since it was not helping with my ED and could result in negative side effects such as loss of natural T production and testicle atrophy. Last night he called with the results of my most recent blood test. He advised most everything was in good shape but that my PSA showed an increase from 1.2 to 1.6. Normally he would not be concerned with. PSA of 1.6, but the fact that it was increasing was troubling him. He again urged me to start reducing the amount of T-gel I use every two weeks until I no longer use it.

Re: Low testosterone
My 6-year journey with ED and low T is now happily resolving. I am 6-weeks post-op with the AMS 700 LGX implant and recovery is going exceedingly well.
As to low T and the resulting shrinkage of one's balls, I have hypogonadism and have been on T-cypionate for five years. Within the first year of T replacement therapy, I too noticed that my balls were shrinking. Alarmed by it, I asked my urologist what can be done to restore the size of my balls. In addition to taking T-cypionate every week (self-injected), my urologist prescribed 1,000 international units of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) self-injected weekly. Within six weeks, my balls had returned to their normal size. I have been on T-cyp and HCG now for at least three years and have very good results. Prior to treatment, my T level was 120, extremely low. Now, I consistently test at about 850-1,000 which my urologist says is acceptable because it's within the upper limits of the acceptable range and I feel much better than when my T level is lower.
I have been down a long road with urologists, an endocrinologist, an internist, and my family practice physician. And I will tell you that endocrinologists are always ultra conservative in treating low T. Most of them don't want to prescribe T, let alone HCG, even when your T levels are in the tank.
Bottom line: Find an endocrinologist or urologist who specializes in the treatment of hypogonadism (low T) and male sexual function. Not all endocrinologists and urologists are trained in this area. Find one who treats this particular problem and then be a proactive self-advocate for your own healthcare. Tell the doctor what you want to achieve and work together to find a way to achieve your desired result. Most patients are not very good at being proactive self-advocates for their own healthcare, especially as it relates to male sexual function.
For those guys whose balls are shrinking or have shrunken during T replacement therapy, ask your physician for a prescription for self-injectable HCG to restore and maintain testicular size, appearance, and health.
