Hi I am a 35yo male who after having surgery for priapism last year is now completely impotent. The closest i can get to an erection is a very soft plump. Not even enough to consider a semi. My Urologist at the time of my surgery said there was too much damage to the tissue because of the priapism and that I would never get an erection again.... Talk about devastating to someone who originally thought that ED was for people over 50! I have browsed through the forums some before registering and I have learned more about ED and treatments than what my Urologist even thought to explain to me!

Two things: (1) What caused your priapism? (2) Don't give up. There IS a solution for your situation. You just have to find it. A good treatment sequence is pills-pumps-shots-implant. What have you tried since the surgery?

I was involved with some heavy role play, and was injected with a dose of Caverject while wearing a very tight cockring. being that I was Restrained (yes that kind of role play) and blindfolded, I did not see who injected me (and yes there were multiple people there also). I did not go to the ER until 24 hours after the injection. The Doctor at the ER injected me with phenal ephedrine (spelling?) and drained about 10-20 CCs of blood. then sent me home as it looked like the erection was going down some. But he was not a Urologist, and I had to come back to the ER for a second time the next day as the erection was back and with a vengeance! This time earlier in the day. It had been about 38 hours since it all started. The ER called a local Urologist, who immediately told them to send me over to his office. I was there in about 15 minutes. Once in his exam room, He examined me and started the same procedure as the first ER doctor. This time though he did not stop at 20cc of blood. He ended up draining me about 2 quarts blood if i figure the size of the drainage pans right. I am familiar with many medical instruments due to knowing several Doctors and Nurses. After draining, he said he still did not like teh way it looked and decided to send me back to the Hospital for emergency surgery. BACK to the ER for emergency check-in! There they prepped me and the Urologist did two Distal shunts, one for each side. The shunt he used is called a Winter's Shunt. After waking up and recouping in a Hospital room for 2 days the Urologist came back in and examined me again. He told me there was too much damage for medication or pumps to work right and that my only option left if I am ever to have an erection again is implants. I DID see another Urologist After i had healed some and he told me the exact same thing.

And Since Surgery I have tried VEDs while I will get hard in the tube, But after coming out it is still limp even with a constrictor ring on. I have not tried medication as That is what started the whole process to begin with! I have been using VEDs to keep my length and girth near what i was before the surgery. That was 1 year 1 month and 20 days ago when it all started.

Before undergoing further surgery, I would ask more quesions of the medical team. What, exactly, is the damage that prevents erections? Venous leakage? Damage to the cavernosa? What? What is it about that damage that means pills (Viagra, etc.) and/or injections (Bimix, Trimix, etc.) are not likely to work? Finally, is there anything to try short of implant surgery?

I don't doubt that the docs may be right in their assessment that an implant is the only option, but I would sure want to understand the mechanics and the biology of WHY they are right before going under the knife. Nor am I suggesting that an implant is not a good option. Most importatnly, I a medical professional (nor do I play one on TV). But surgery is surgery and taking a sharp knife to a man's most important body part is a HUGE deal. You deserve to be thoroughly informed. I had aortic valve replacement surgery a few years back and both my cardiologist and my cardiac surgeon appreciated my quesions and my "need to know" all the details. They explained to me in detail (including drawings and sketches) what was wrong; how they were going to fix it; and why that was the best option. Neither of them were put off by my questions.

First, you should kill all those role-playing assholes. Injecting you with PGE-1 ?? Yikes.

Good that the pump is sort of working for you ... how much scar tissue or fibrosis do you think you have?

Maybe read up on Rings and Things and Pumps over in the main page (not just the forums).

Hope you can get some recovery over time ...
