Hello From Texas

Postby karnevil » Sun May 06, 2012 8:27 pm

Hey guys,
I've been lurking in this forum for awhile and finally joined today. I've had ED for almost 12 years as a result of prostate cancer surgery. Anyway, after trying everything unsuccessfully, I began research on a penile implant. That's where this board came in. After doing a lot of reading here and consulting with my neurologist, I decided to go with the Titan OTR. I had the surgery three days ago and am now recovering. The doctor left me partially inflated after the surgery.

Since the surgery, urinating has been a difficult. It takes me several seconds to get started and even then, its a very narrow stream. It now takes a few minutes to do what I was doing in a few seconds before the surgery. Is this normal? Does it get better?

Also, what are some good pain killer meds to take?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions

Karnevil

karnevil --

I've a a Titan OTR for about 10 weeks. During the first 10 days or so, urinating was not normal for me, though perhaps not as bad as you describe. Hard to start, split stream, weak stream, shoot in direction different from where I was aiming. At about the 12 day mark things got much better and became normal again, due to a reduction in swelling, I think, though I'm not sure of the cause. My Dr also put me on Rapaflo (similar to Flomax) for the first couple of weeks in case I had the kind of difficulty you describe. Not sure it made a difference, but you might consider calling your Dr if it is a real problem for you. I would expect the problems should resolve as your swelling goes down.

As far a pain meds, I wouldn't take anything not approved by my Dr. I was prescribed Percocet and Tylenol III. Starting 24 hours after I just used Advil. Also, warm baths (actually about as hot as I comfortably take) starting on day 3, followed by bed rest, was the best pain relief by far. But, my Dr specifically closes the incision in a watertight manner to allow for warm baths, so you would want to check to make sure baths are ok. If not, perhaps some form of dry heat or warmth would accomplish a similar result.
