I have been treated by both Clavell and Hakky and while I haven’t been implanted yet, I have dealt with both at an advanced patient-dr level.
Both are professionals with a passion for our issue and while covering the subjects of Peyronies and ED in professional terms, they both are very down to earth and exercise plain speak.
I found both understood my want to wait to be implanted and explained the pros and cons of Trimix (hence my Peronies lol), My journey started 3 years ago.. As talk recently turned to implants both explained everything thoroughly. I did find Clavell to be more prone to giving options like brand of device and IP or PS and letting me decide, whereas, Hakky gave me his opinion on devices and approach while explaining why and offered me final say but was more direct in suggesting what direction he preferred to move forward.
Both were quick to cover awkward topics like size preservation, ved use, sex after implantation etc that some may feel awkward talking about. They both use no touch and explain their attention to infection mitigation.
A major point of consideration for me is insurance coverage and help. I have a BCBS plan that in the plan paperwork says it will cover implantation for ED and Peyronies but of course you have to fight a bit, I felt Clavell’s office was directing me towards self pay, whereas, Hakky’s office immediately went to work helping me secure insurance coverage. They said my plan is top notch and they had experience with helping to get coverage. (BCBS FEP Basic)
Final outcome: I originally saw Clavell because I lived outside of Houston and his reputation here. About a year ago I move to TN about 3 hours from Hakky. I have tons of air and hotel miles so those expenses weren't a problem for me, in the end I chose Hakky because he's closer. At the end of the day both are fantastic doctors and I believe from experience, you are comparing apples to apples. Either way you will win.
